CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS IN BOTEVGRAD
Library "Ivan Vazov" which is part of the cultural center "Hristo Botev 1884." It is a modern general educational institution in the municipality of Botevgrad. The library completes, processes and preserves various library collections, serves readers, performs reference-bibliographic and informative activities, performs organizational-methodical functions on the territory of Botevgrad.
Provides information resources for free use. The Ivan Vazov Library in Botevgrad was established in 1883, with the opening of the Napredak Cultural Center. The initial book fund is 700-800 volumes, formed by donations from local patriots from Orhani. We can talk about organized library activities only after 1924, when a special library room was arranged in the newly opened building of the reading room. Only in 1973, the library moved to the new building of the reading room "Hristo Botev". Its fund already numbers 45,000 volumes. On September 17, 1981, the new building of the municipal library of the reading room "Ivan Vazov" opened its doors to its readers. Today, the library has 86,064 volumes of books, periodicals, audiovisual documents, graphics, music editions and much more. It serves 1,800 regular readers, distributes 40,000 library documents a year and is visited 26,000 times a year.
Readers in the library are served by three departments: Adult Loan, Children's Department and the Department of Bibliography and Information. All three sections have an internet connection.Since 2003, the automation of major library processes has begun. The library has an integrated library information system (IBIS) E-Lib-Prima. On December 2, 2010, in the library "Ivan Vazov" - Botevgrad, computer equipment was installed and tested within the program "Glob @ l Libraries - Bulgaria". The library received 13 computers, a laptop, a multifunctional device, a color printer, a projector and a screen.Library activities include: • Library lessons and presentations;
• Meetings with famous people - writers and poets;
• Annual participation in the national campaigns "Reading Marathon" and "National Library Week" with various initiatives;
• Organizing reading days during the holidays;
• Work with children from kindergarten;
• Art workshops - making various things from natural and handy materials;
• Celebrating traditional holidays and customs and celebrating important dates and events; • Legal information in the library;
• Basic computer literacy courses.The library successfully cooperates with the local municipal administration, with schools, MFBU and other cultural and non-governmental institutions and organizations, as well as with the media in the city.
