Barbecue
The barbecue is an annual gastronomic economic and tourist event that is traditionally held in the last week of August and the first week of September at the "Wide Bazaar" in the center of Leskovac. It is the largest and most visited barbecue festival in Southeast Europe, recognizable on the tourist map of the world. It is visited annually by more than half a million people from Serbia and abroad. In seven days at the unified stands, more than seventy tons of meat are prepared and eaten. Starting from 1990, this event affirms the preparation of culinary specialties from the grill, better known as the Leskovac barbecue. Traditionally, the accompanying programs are a competition in preparing the biggest burger for the Guinness Book of Records, a competition in fast eating hot peppers and kebabs, a competition of barbecue masters in the preparation of kebabs and donuts, a competition of catering school students in preparing barbecue specialties ... and an entertainment program featuring a large number of singers, bands and other artists.
